VOLUNTEER DUTIES

OAK LEAF FAMILIES -

This week the Board passed a new ruling regarding volunteer help for social events as a way of getting more families involved in various social events throughout the year and relieve those families who seem to always step up to volunteer. Not that were not appreciative of these families who always step forward, but it is nice for newer families to also be involved as the torch is passed on to younger player families and older player families graduate and leave.

With this in mind, there are two events, which are both major on our social calendar, that we will from now forward assign volunteer responsibilities to families by "classes", as follows: If you are a parent of a junior or sophmore player, you will be responsible to help/volunteer with Senior Night (Saturday, Feb 23rd). If you are a parent of a senior or freshman player, you will be responsible to help/volunteer with the Year-End Banquet (Sunday, April 6th). Each of these two events will continue to be coordinated and headed by the Oak Leaf Social Commitee. To make everyone's job easier and more efficient, each of these two events are divided into several committees within the event itself. You may volunteer for the committee wherever you feel you are best suited. Some tasks may be very minor while others a little more involved. There will be a meeting held later in the year (TBA) to coordinate each event and at that time you may divide into committees for the event you are responsible for. Please remember, with everyone's help these events run very smoothly and efficiently ... lessening extra effort from any one person.

I hope you see this as an opportunity to get involved and not as a punishment. After working on these events, you tend to be more appreciative of what goes on behind the scenes to make each event a success. Also, for those families volunteering for Senior Night, it gives insight as to what will be needed from you for when your player is a senior. Hopefully, helping you to prepare in advance for the family made projects displayed on Senior Night of your senior.

We have had numerous hockey clubs from other areas compliment our organization in the past on how well we run our events. Whether it is an Oak Leaf Potluck or Senior Night, we have had great group participation and stellar presentation. This is a direct reflection of you and your family. Let's keep up our "image" and continue with another sweeping season. Thanks to each of you in advance!!

GO LEAFS!!
